The misconception of shrooms: There is a stigma with shrooms. Many people assume you take shrooms, you trip, hallucinate, and go crazy. Yes, that can be the case if you take a large dose, but that is not true in small doses. People assume you do shrooms and you’re a crazy shroomhead druggy. You can still function in the world as a levelheaded person while microdosing shrooms. Many people are not aware of the benefits of shrooms. There is more research coming out with the benefits of microdosing. Now this won’t be a research paper, you will have to go search that out elsewhere. There are podcasts and people on social media that I could recommend that have more knowledge than I. I am only sharing my personal experience with it. As a disclaimer my experience may not be the same as yours. My hope with sharing all of this is that the stigma of shrooms will lessen, and people will become more welcoming to the idea.
What are shrooms? Questions I get are: what are you talking about when you say shrooms? I am referring to psilocybin mushrooms. Don’t ask me what strain because I’m not sure. I know there are many different strains. There are shrooms that are just straight up/looks like a mushroom (which I have never taken because I’m too scared to and wouldn’t know how much to take) and there are shrooms that are in chocolate bars and gummies. I prefer that, as you can microdose accordingly.
How much should you take? I would NOT recommend people to take large doses. Unless you want to..go for it, but majority of people would be better off microdosing. A microdose is around 100mg-200mg. 100mg you don’t really feel many physical sensations, 200mg you might start to feel physical sensations such as heightened senses, increased sense of smell, increased awareness of thoughts, tingling of the body. You will NOT be tripping and seeing things. A large dose would be 1 gram or more. That is when people start hallucinating and seeing things. I have not experienced that, nor am interested in that at the moment. As someone who has struggled with anxiety in the past, it could be a very overwhelming experience. The most I have taken in the past was 400mg and that was slightly overwhelming. I had to ground and calm myself from panicking. Gummies are great for microdosing since they tell you how much is in each gummy. For example: gummies that are 200mg per gummy, you could take half, or take 2 and you would know exactly how much you are taking and how intensely it will affect you. This allows you to get used to the feeling.
Who should take them? I am not suggesting everyone should take them, nor do I think they are necessary for everyone to take. You can achieve peace, calm, awareness through meditation or breathwork alone. Although, I do believe microdosing could be very beneficial for many people. Microdosing can be very beneficial to people struggling with mental health issues. I’ve noticed an increase in mood the day of, and days following microdosing. It provides me with a new perspective and outlook on life or certain situations I may be dealing with. If you are taking any medications, please take caution and do research. I am not a doctor and do not know the effects of interactions.
When and where should you take them? I personally believe the best time to take them is first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Set time aside to go on the journey. It takes about 15 minutes to set in and the peak is around 30mins-1hr. Take them with intention. Set the intention that you want before taking them. For example, you would state: “please show me how capable and worthy of love I am”, and then ingest them. I personally prefer to take them alone as I am sensitive to other peoples energy, and just want to focus on whatever I am dealing with and what comes up for me. I suggest going for a walk around the neighborhood or in nature. Nature can be very calming and relaxing. If you get overwhelmed remember to take deep breaths and remind yourself that you are safe and you will be okay. I recommend also grounding, meditating, and journaling as well. Shrooms will bring you messages and realizations you need and it is important to process it.
How often should you take it? Different people have different protocols. Some people do 3 days on and 3 days off. It is important to take days off as you can become resistant to it. Personally I do it when I feel called to. If I notice I’m starting to have repetitive negative thoughts or feel "stuck" I will do a microdose a couple days and see how I feel. I might do it a couple times a month, I might go a few months without it at all. It may be beneficial to try 3 days in a row and see how you feel. People say not to take it if you are in a negative head space, but personally I think it can help you get out of a negative head space, but it is important to go into it with intention of having a positive experience. If you go into thinking you will have a bad experience it may increase those thoughts. Reminder you are doing this to improve your thoughts. Start small and work your way up.
Where to get it? I believe shrooms will come to you, when you are ready for them. They will show up for you. I don't recommend getting them from your local crackhead. They should only come from a trusted source.
Why take shrooms? Shrooms can be very beneficial to mental health. It rewires your brain to think differently. You may be caught up in reoccurring negative thought patterns, and shrooms can disrupt that. It can give you a new perspective, a more positive and helpful lookout on life. It can help connect you more spiritually and give you guidance in life. Taking shrooms can change your perspective, so that you can make different choices, and make changes that you may have been resistant to. I actually started this website and blog thanks to shrooms. Without it I would have been too scared to share my truth or take a risk of starting my own business. My purpose for anyone to take it would be to help you live a more happy fulfilling life.
I hope this was helpful, eye opening, and informative. The more this subject is discussed the less taboo it will become. I can only hope that more people realize the healing benefits and reduce the stigma of shrooms.
